Project Needs and Beneficiaries:
After empowering the rural disabled for the past 10 years we observed that the services for the severe disabled especially children with Cerebral Palsy children with Mental Retardation and children with Multiple disability are left with their helpless parents to fend for them. To get any medical assistance these children have to be taken to NIMH in Secunderabad , about 120 kilo meters away. Due to poverty and ignorance they are unable to provide necessary assistance to these children. Consequently they are a very much neglected lot in any society. There are no organization which volunteers to support them .There are a few in Hyderabad but they are charge heavy fees and they are beyond the reach of these people. Hence we propose to start :1. A Day Care Center for severely disabled children (C.P, MR, and those with Multiple disability) and 2. A Computer training Center for disabled and underprivileged youth.
What we do?
The objective of the unit is to develop learning potential, self help skills,
and an awareness of surroundings through a multi sensory medium of instruction.
They will require physiotherapy, speech therapy as well as medical intervention.
All these can be done only when the children can be brought to an Institute.
We have identified about 120 children with severe disabilities who need special care and support.
These children are mostly affected by Cerebral palsy,Mental Retardation or Multiple disability.
They need regular one to one support which can be possible only in an Institute.
The parents are illiterate and does not have the knowledge or capacity to take care of these children.
Specialized services arte available only in Hyderabad..
(NIMH,Sweekar Upkaar etc. They are beyond the reach of these hapless people. Hence the need for starting an
Institute that will cater to the needs of these children. We need to pick up these children from their home
and drop them back home in the evening. This will ensure that the children will get adequate training and their parents can go for work.
What we need is a mini bus and a driver of course the care takers too.
Early Intervention Services can make a significant difference in a child's development. These services are available for children from birth up to age 3 who have developmental delays or have a physical or mental condition known to cause developmental delays. Early Intervention can provide different types of therapy services as well as medical, educational, and social services.
